An open forum about passive on ship

Recommended Posts

Hey everybody,

So everybody I’ve recently been writing and planning for the upcoming campaign and beyond as we enter the new season.

With that I found myself asking how we could improve passive ship side throughout the upcoming events with the campaign and I’d like to pose this in a constructive forum for everyone to express their thoughts about what can be done shipside for passive between admins to players.
some ideas I’ve had were

- supply shipments and having the Infantry loading the armoury.

- fleet and infantry patrols and escorts of FEDNET personnel around the ship as tour guides

these are my suggestions and I’d like to hear more from everyone below, please be open minded to this.

thank you for reading

One of the Joy's I had of being part of MI leadership (Cpl+) is developing RP just like that. You spawn some shitty box crates and go "need some people up here to stock up the kitchen/armory/supply room/ whatever"

I get that most people want to sit in PAC all day and then bitch about how the server is dead but take some time and sacrifice your time for the sake of getting that RP you complain a lot about being nonexistant rolling.

One of my favorite things to do (and it usually ends up pretty funny) is to just simply take the material tool or whatever it's called and paint the barracks with like stains, then like spawn a bunch of trash items around etc. get creative.

Then call in some of the infantry and have them clean it all up and shit. Did this when I had a corporal recently and the outcome was that someone came on vark's hat.

Classic ways to get some RP (mainly Fleet & Engineers) is have some repairs. Just spawn some sparks & tell peoples that you found it like that and tada, you got them something to do. Proper medical checkups are something your local medic & you can also get in, but ensure you're not making paragraph RP, cause that is really, really disengaging.

Apologies for being late to the topic!

I am unfortunately not on as much as I would like to be, though I have a little more controversal suggestion; A smaller map?

Often I have seen the map change inbetween periods of activity, and I have noted that on Roleplay servers bigger maps with fewer 'communal spots' tend to feel more 'dead'.

This current one, for example, is far too big for the meagre playercount the server currently has. The bar, technical areas, galley and hangar are all seperated, with many nooks, crannies and rooms to hide away in. This naturally disperses roleplayers and makes for single avatars standing in rooms by their lonesome. A smaller map would encourage congregation and increase potential for passive roleplay, as you can actually find each other and bump into conversations!

The other suggestions are good to help nudge people togther if things are not sparking, but I feel are more like bandaids to tide it over.
